Are we our brains? Or, more precisely: how and in what contexts have the claims that “we are our brains” or that “the mind is what the brain does” become naturalized to the point they have by the first decade of the 21st century? In “Being Brains,” Professor Vidal explores the interest of situating these questions in a longue-durée historical perspective (rather than only tying them to developments of the last 50 or 100 years), and  discusses some of the issues that the “neural turn” raises for scholars in the humanities.

ID is required for entrance.

Attendance to the workshop is by invitation only.
