DESCRIPTION:At a time when the United States faces growing inequality\, m
 ass incarceration\, and broken immigration systems\, public po
 licies and politics are working against the active public en
 gagement\, collaboration\, and trust required to build a just 
 society. The Theater of Change is a groundbreaking methodolo
 gy developed as a collaboration between the Broadway Advocac
 y Coalition and the Center for Institutional and Social Chan
 ge at Columbia Law School. The process brings together high-
 level artists\, law and policy students and experts\, and dire
 ctly impacted advocates to deepen connections and bridge gap
 s of disconnect and lack of understanding. Participants ulti
 mately collaborate as equal partners and create arts-based p
 erformance pieces that have an engagement strategy to target
  specific areas and policies.
