 n experience in Vietnam through the life of Michael O’Donn
 ell\, a bright young musician and poet who served as a soldie
 r and helicopter pilot. O’Donnell wrote with great sensiti
 vity and poetic force\, and his best-known poem is among the 
 most beloved of the war. In 1970\, during an attempt to rescu
 e fellow soldiers stranded under heavy fire\, O’Donnell’s
  helicopter was shot down in the jungles of Cambodia. He rem
 ained missing in action for almost three decades. Weiss will
  talk about O’Donnell life and legacy on the 50th annivers
 ary of his death and the war in Vietnam more generally.
