Video / Audio  Poets At The Heyman Center

A bilingual reading in Russian and English of poetry, with discussion to follow, by four leading Russian poets from points across the geography of the Russian-Speaking world, including Shamshad Abdullaev (Fergana, Uzbekistan), Keti Chukhrov (Moscow), Alexandra Petrova (Rome), and Alexander Skidan (St. Petersburg). The poets will be joined by poet/translators Julia Dasbach (Philadelphia), Kevin M. F. Platt (Philadelphia), Alexandra Tatarsky (New York; Philadelphia) and Matvei Yankelevich (New York).

Poets talk about the scholarly resources that inspire them, including poetry anthologies, rhyming dictionaries, standard dictionaries, handbooks of poetic forms, and other resources, such as the Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics (the latest edition of which was published in 2013). Poets Tom Pickard, August Kleinzahler, and Maureen McLane read from new and published work in the continuation of the Poets at the Heyman Center series. Orlando Reade, PhD candidate in the Department of English at Princeton University, chaired the discussion.
