Alexander Nehamas is Professor of Humanities and of Comparative Literature. His interests include Greek philosophy, philosophy of art, European philosophy and literary theory. He is the author of several books, including Only a Promise of Happiness: The Place of Beauty in a World of Art (2007), and has translated, with Paul Woodruff, Plato's Sympoium and Phaedrus.
