Alice Oswald

Poet

Alice Oswald is the author of The Thing in the Gap-Stone Stile; Dart, winner of the T. S. Eliot Prize for Poetry in 2002; Woods Etc.; Weeds and Flowers; and A Sleepwalk on the Severn, a poem for several voices. Oswald trained as a classicist, and her most recent book is Memorial: An Excavation of the Iliad, which focuses by turns on Homer's extended similes and on the brief images of the minor war-dead, each of whom lives and dies unforgettably - and unforgotten - in Homer's glance. She lives in Devon, England.
