Arash Abizadeh's research interests include the history of political philosophy, contemporary political theory, nationalism, democratic theory, and discourse ethics.

His current research focuses on democratic theory in relation to questions of identity, nationalism, cosmopolitanism, political legitimation, and immigration and boundaries; seventeenth- and eighteenth-century philosophy, particularly Hobbes and Rousseau; and Habermas and German critical theory.
