Bürge Abiral is currently pursuing her PhD in Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a masters in Cultural Studies at Sabancı University. She graduated in 2011 from Williams College, USA, with Honors in Anthropology. She was a member of the organizing committee of Gendered Memories of War and Political Violence Young Researchers Conference, which was held in Sabancı University in April 2014. Also working as a translator, she recently finished translating Toward an Anthropology of Women (ed. Rayna Reiter, 1975) to be published from Dipnot Yayınları. Her MA thesis research focuses on permaculture as a social movement and an ethical practice and investigates how permaculture practitioners engage with the political.
