Chris Adrian is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop. He attended Harvard Divinity School, and completed a pediatric fellowship at UCSF. In 2009, he was one of 11 writers to receive a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2010, he was chosen as one of the 20 best writers under 40 by The New Yorker. His short fiction has also appeared in The Paris Review, Zoetrope, Ploughshares, McSweeney's, The New Yorker, The Best American Short Stories, and Story.
He is the author of the novels The Great Night, The Children's Hospital, Gob's Grief, and the short story collection A Better Angel.
