Dániel Margócsy

Dániel Margócsy is an assistant professor in early modern history at Hunter College, with an interest in the cultural history of science. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University. Margócsy's research examines the impact of global trade on cultural production in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He explores how commercial networks played a crucial role in the growth and transmission of empirical knowledge; and how commercial secrecy and marketing transformed the public sphere and the Republic of Letters. He received his PhD from Harvard University in 2009.
