Donya Alinejad

Dr. Donya Alinejad is a digital media and migration scholar currently working as a Postdoc researcher on a ERC Consolidator project, ‘Digital Crossings in Europe: Gender, Diaspora and Belonging,’ based at the Media and Culture Studies Department of Utrecht University’s Humanities Faculty.

She received her PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology in 2015 from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her doctoral research was an ethnographic study of web usage practices of second-generation Iranian Americans in Los Angeles, investigating how digital media play a role in matters of collective memory, racial discrimination, and transnational connections for this new generation. In 2017 it was published by Palgrave MacMillan as a book.
