Fernando Vidal

Fernando Vidal was born in Buenos Aires, received a B.A. from Harvard University, graduate degrees in psychology and the history and philosophy of science from the Universities of Geneva and Paris, and a Habilitation from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. He has worked on the history of the human sciences from the early modern period to the present and his most recent book studied the “sciences of the soul” between the late Renaissance and the Enlightenment.  Vidal has been a Guggenheim Fellow and an Athena Fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Until he joined the CEHIC (Center for the History of Science, Autonoma University of Barcelona) as ICREA Research Professor in the Fall of 2012, Vidal was Research Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin
