Gareth Stedman Jones is Professor of Political Science at the History Faculty and Director of the Centre for History and Economics at the University of Cambridge, and Professor of the History of Ideas at Queen Mary, University of London. His work is focused on modern European politics and he is an authority on Marx and the history of political thought from the French Revolution. Jones’s books include Outcast London: A Study in the Relationship Between Classes in Victorian Society, An End to Poverty?, Languages of Class: Studies in English Working Class History, Charles Fourier: the Theory of the Four Movements, and editor of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels: The Communist Manifesto.
