Hubertus Buchstein

Professor Hubertus Buchstein's research investigates the history of ideas and of German political science, theories of modern democracy,  and the nature of right-wing extremism in rural areas.  He is a two-time Visiting Professor at the New School for Social Research in New York.

Since 1997 he has been the Associate Editor of Leviathan - The Berlin Journal  of Social Science, and since 2004 he has been the Associate Editor of Redescriptions. He has worked as a consultant for the Study Commission of the German Bundestag, who commissioned a study inot the "future of civic engagement" with the question of whether the Internet can promote such engagement. In addition Buchstein is a member of the German Society for the Study of Political thought (DGEPD).
