Jennifer Jane Marshall (Associate Professor, University of Minnesota) is the author of Machine Art, 1934 (winner: Robert Motherwell Book Award, 2013). Her research centers on issues of materiality, modernity, and value in early-twentieth-century American art. Dr. Marshall is currently writing a monograph on the self-taught sculptor William Edmondson and the role of biography in art history. She received her PhD in Art History at UCLA and is the recipient of a National Endowment of the Humanities grant, among other distinctions.
