Jenny Davidson is Associate Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. Her interests include Eighteenth-century British literature and culture; cultural and intellectual history, the history of science; and the contemporary novel. Her academic books include Hypocrisy and the Politics of Politeness: Manners and Morals from Locke to Austen, and Breeding: A Partial History of the Eighteenth Century. Davidson has received numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, Columbia’s Lenfest Distinguished Teaching Award and the Mark Van Doren Teaching Award. In addition, she has published four novels: Heredity, The Explosionist, Invisible Things, and The Magic Circle.
