Marilyn Young

Marilyn Young is a collegiate professor of History at the University of New York. Professor Young recieved her PhD in US-East Asian relations. Her thesis went on to become her first book: Rhetoric of Empire: American China Policy, 1895-1901, which she published in 1969.

Professor Young is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the ACLS. Professor Young writes extensively on US foreign policy, particularly as it relates to East Asia. Her book The Vietnam Wars, 1945-1990 was the recipient of the Berkshire Women's History Prize. In addition to her duties as a professor at NYU, she was the president of The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations in 2011.
