Nellie Thompson, PhD, is an historian and member of the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. Her research interests include the role of women in the psychoanalytic movement, both as institutional actors and contributors to psychoanalytic theory and clinical practice, and the contributions of émigré analysts to psychoanalysis in America. Her recent publications include: “Ernst Kris: The Objects of Memory” (2011); “The Transformation of Psychoanalysis in America: Émigré Analysts and the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, 1935-1961” (2012); “Winnicott and American Analysts” (2012); and “Ernst Kris in Amerika” in Im Dienste Ernst Kris des Ich Heute (2013). With Peter Loewenberg she co-edited 100 Years of the IPA: The Centenary History of the International Psychoanalytical Association, 1910-2010, Evolution and Change (2011).
