Richard Jean So is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Chicago. He works on modern American and Chinese literatures, and more generally, American culture in an international context. So has recently finished a book manuscript: Pacific Community: The Rise and Fall of a U.S.-China Literary Network, 1929-1955. He earned his PhD in comparative literature at Columbia in 2010, where he worked with Gauri Viswanathan, Jonathan Arac, Rachel Adams, and Lydia Liu.
