Richard Terdiman is a Professor of Literature and of the History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz and former Director of UCSC’s Satyajit Ray Film and Study Center. His reseach interests include nineteenth- and 20th-century French and European literature and culture; literary and cultural theory; contemporary critical theory; cultural globalization; and digital humanities and digital publication. He is the author of Discourse/Counter-Discourse: The Theory and Practice of Symbolic Resistance in Nineteenth-Century France and Present Past: Modernity and the Memory Crisis.
