Robert Nichols is the Alexander von Humboldt Faculty Research Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. His areas of research specialization include contemporary European philosophy and political theory (esp. Critical Theory, Foucault, and Heidegger); the history of political thought (esp. pertaining to imperialism and colonialism in the 19th century); and the contemporary politics of settler colonialism and indigeneity in the Anglo-American world. His first monograph, 'The World of Freedom', was recently published by Stanford University Press. He is currently working on two new projects: a book on settler colonialism and 19th century political thought, and a reconstruction of the concept of 'dispossession' across several traditions of critical theory.
