Emily Bloom

Associate Director
Heyman Center for the Humanities

Emily Bloom is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and Associate Director of the Heyman Center for the Humanities. She earned her B.A. from Washington University in St Louis (2003), M.A. Boston College (2006); and Ph.D. Texas (2012). 

Clarence Coaxum

Associate Director of Finance and Administration
Heyman Center

Clarence has worked in education for more than a decade, first in Early Childhood Education, and most recently in higher education at Columbia University. Clarence earned his B.A. in Political Science, a M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis at Nova Southeastern University. In his spare time, Clarence enjoys reading to grade school students in the Power Lunch program, physical fitness, and spending time with his family and friends.

Eileen Gillooly

Executive Director
Heyman Center for the Humanities

Eileen Gillooly, Adjunct Associate Professor of English and Comparative Literature and the Institute for Research on Women and Gender, is the Executive Director of the Heyman Center for the Humanities and Society of Fellows.

Richard Roderick

Program Coordinator, Justice-in-Education Initiative

Richard, is the Program Coordinator for the Justice-in-Education Initiative and a Community Outreach Fellow. He holds a BA in Sociology from Pitzer College and plans to pursue his doctorate degree in Sociology, with a focus on the nexus between our Public Education System and the Criminal Justice System.

Mia Ruyter is the Education and Outreach Manager for the Heyman Center for Humanities and the Society of Fellows in the Humanities, Columbia University.

Kay Zhang

Program Manager

Kay Zhang is the Program Manager at the Society of Fellows and the Heyman Center for the Humanities at Columbia University. She received her undergraduate degree in English from Princeton University and her MFA in Poetry from Columbia University.
