Ute Tellmann studied sociology and political theory in Berlin, Bielefeld, Toronto and Ithaca. She received her Ph.D. from Cornell University in political theory in 2007 and is assistant professor in social theory at the University of Hamburg. The book manuscript titled "The Genealogy of the Economic in Liberalism" is currently under review. She is working on two book projects. One concerns a "History of the Economic Future" that looks at the material forms of producing futurity in economic practice. The other project is titled "Debt Collectives" and traces the modes of collectivity and the notion of "public things" in the moral economy of debt.
