Zeynep Çelik Alexander works on the history of modern architecture since the Enlightenment. Alexander’s first book, Kinaesthetic Knowing: Aesthetics, Epistemology, Modern Design is forthcoming from the University of Chicago Press. A second volume, co-edited with John J. May, explores the histories of technologies that have come to dominate contemporary design disciplines. Alexander's new research investigates how architecture has been used to organize knowledge. She is a member of the architectural history collaborative Aggregate and serves as an editor of Grey Room.
