Zeynep Çelik Alexander works on the history of modern architecture since the Enlightenment. Alexander’s first book, Kinaesthetic Knowing: Aesthetics, Epistemology, Modern Design is forthcoming from the University of Chicago Press. A second volume, co-edited with John J. May, explores the histories of technologies that have come to dominate contemporary design disciplines. Alexander's new research investigates how architecture has been used to organize knowledge.
